On August 14, Tabatha Spake Heavner returned home from her date when she was struck by her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Compton Jr.

The authorities believe Compton, who had been living with her up until a month before the incident, was waiting for her to come back from her date and then attacked her.
He stabbed her with a knife and forced her into his vehicle. Tabatha jumped from the running vehicle in an attempt to save her life.
Compton stopped the car, ran back to her, and stabbed her several times. She fought back and managed to escape once again from his clutches only to get hit by a tractor-trailer and other vehicles.
Many drivers called 911 but she died on the roadway.
Where Is Boyfriend Aaron Compton Jr Now?
Aaron Compton Jr. is currently incarcerated at Pender Correctional Center in Burgaw, North Carolina.
He surrendered himself to the police after killing Tabatha Spake Heavner. He was a jealous man which ended his relationship with Heavner.
The police arrested him on August 14, 2013, in Maiden, North Carolina. They also found a knife, a machete, and a rope in his truck along with CCTV footage of him buying those things from a local Walmart.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, robbery, and assault. He avoided the death penalty and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
