While studying in a high school, Victor Rusk encountered the movie director of the NYU, who offered him role of a feisty Dominican teenager in his thesis short movie “Five Feet and Rising”. The movie was a big success and won a number of awards and appreciating at SXSW, Cannes and Sundance. The success of the movie gave him some exposure that led him to “Raising Victor Vargas”, starring Judy Marte, Melonie Diaz and his real life brother Silvestre Rasuk as his on-screen brother. His performance in the movie earned him Independent Spirit Award nomination for Choice Movie Breakthrough Performance Male. He then portrayed Roc in 2002’s “Rock Steady”.
Following a series of television roles, including guest appearance in the popular legal, crime drama, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” as Leon Ardilles and “Law and Order: Trial by Jury” as Luis Ramirex, he depicted groundbreaking skateboarder Tony Alva in 2005’s biographical drama movie, “Lords of Dogtown”. He did a number of stunts by himself in the movie which causes him several skate-related injuries and factored orbital socket. The movie earned him Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Movie Breakout Performance – Male. He was then cast by Zackary Adler in hi romantic comedy film “I’m Reed Fish” as Frank Cortez, starring Alesis Bledel, Jay Baruchel and Schuyler Fisk. His followed up role came in Iraq war drama titled “Stop-Loss” in which Victor depicted a soldier who got wounded while rescuing ht life of a fellow soldier. A reoccurring part as neurotic NYC doctor Ryan Sanchez on popular series “ER” in the year 2008 flaunted his more serious side. He has appeared in movies such as “Bonneville”, “Adrift in Manhattan”, “Spinning into Butter”, “Feel the Noise” and “Che”. Before landing main role in HBO’s series “How To Make It in America” as Cameron “Cam” Calderon in 2010, he did movies such as “The War Boys”, “Life Is Hot in Cracktown” and “Apples”. In 2012, he portrayed Gabriel in “Being Flynn”. The following year, he landed role of Bill Fernandez in “Jobs”. That same year, he scored a part in a short film titled “A Bag Full of Money” as Rasool. In 2014, he scored another major role in “Godzilla”. He portrayed Sergeant Tre Morales in the movie. More recently, he appeared in British-American erotic film “Fifty Shades of Grey” as Jose Rodriguez. The movie premiered at the sixty-fifth Berlin International Film Festival on 11th of February 2015. He is currently playing Detective Ben Caldwell in “Stalker”. Reportedly he has a net worth of two million dollars.
