Tyga is one of the most renowned and successful rap artists to enter the popular record label Young Money Entertainment. The rapper has been among the top young rappers in the hip hop industry to surface in the past decade in music. From his debut single Coconut Juice to recent singles like 40 Mill and Wait for a Minute, Tyga has been taking the American hip hop industry by storm. Born on November 19, 1989, the Grammy Award nominated rap singer and songwriter takes his stage name from the phrase Thank You God Always while his given name is Michael Ray Nguyen Stevenson.

Born to Jamaican and Vietnamese parents in Los Angeles, Tyga was raised in Compton, California with music influences like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Fabolous and Cam’ron among others. The talented rapper was recruited by hip hop artist Travie McCoy. He was able to debut in 2008 and since then has been claiming the top spots in the American hip hop industry. At the age of 23, he became a father to his son named King Cairo Stevenson who was born in 2012. The mother of his child is the popular model and celebrity Blac Chyna whom he started dating in late 2011 after meeting at a Chris Brown party in Miami. Blac Chyna also appears in his music video for Rack City. They got engaged in late 2012 but separated shortly. Since then, he has been in a relationship with the Keeping with the Kardashians star, Kylie Jenner.

In 2008, Tyga released his debut album No Introduction under Decaydance Records. The single Diamond Life became the most popular and was featured in a Need for Speed: Undercover segment. It also made it to the soundtrack of the film Fighting in 2009. His first mixtape which he had released in 2007 came to attention of Young Money Entertainment eventually and he was invited to sign with the record label. His first mixtape under Young Money Entertainment, Fan of a Fan, was released soon and featured other popular rap artists like Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Kevin McCall and Bow Wow. Deuces from the mixtape peaked at number 14 at the Hot 100 charts. It also topped the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs and went on to receive a nod at the Grammy Awards for the category of Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. In 2012, his Careless World: Rise of the Last King presented singles like Far Away, Still Got It, Rack  City, Faded and Do My Dance. Rack City reached the top 10 at the Billboard Hot 100. For his third album released in 2013, Hotel California, he collaborated with artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Game, Future, Jadakiss and Wiz Khalifa. His single Wait for a Minute from The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty featured vocals from Justin Bieber and the single was nominated for two World Music Awards in 2014. Other artists featuring on the album are Young Thug, Chris Brown, Drake and Kanye West. Following his feuds with the Cash Money Records, he revealed in late 2014 that the album will be independently released.

Tyga has also tried his hands in producing and directing. His movie Rack City: The XXX Movie which has been named after his single was released in 2012. He was the co-director and producer of the movie. The AVN Award winning movie starred Sophie Dee, Jada Fire, Lexington Steele and Kristina Rose among others and had a cameo appearance from the artist himself.

Tyga’s songs have received several award nominations at more than a few award ceremonies. The rap artist’s undeniable music talent has been well received by the lovers of hip hop music all over the United States and from his current rising in the industry, surely there are many more awards waiting for him down the road.
