Tim DeKay | Biography

An established American actor, director & producer Tim DeKay’s debut on screen acting gig was a Larry Deon, a corporate giant on “seaQuest 2032”. Since 1997 to 1999, she appeared in “Party of Five”. Most of his career resume includes acting jobs on On or Off-Broadways.

Born to Jill and Jim DeKay on 12th of June 1963, Tim Dekay grew up in his native land Lansing, New York along with his brother, Jamey. While growing up, he was mostly inclined towards the athletic, playing baseball and basketball. He as well had interest in acting and used to star in high school’s production. While in school, he appeared in production of “Oliver!”. He studied Philosophy and Business at the Le Moyne College, where he as well played baseball, however he later decided to pursue theater acting. After earning BA degree in 1985, he decided to make his career in law or business, but decided to pursue his original dream i.e. acting. He took lessons in direction through the Syracuse University. He studied Master of Fine Arts in the Rutgers University.

Staying very to his one and only love of life, Elisa Taylor, he has spent more than fifteen years of his life with her. While Tim was student at the Rutgers University, he met his future spouse. The couple soon falls in love with each other. Taking their relationship a step ahead, they exchanged marriage vows in 1991. The couple is blessed with two adorable children: son James DeKay and daughter, Danna DeKay. He is currently residing in California with his beloved wife and adorable children.

After attaining experience in off-Broadway and regional theater, Tim entered the Broadway in 1992 in the production of “The Show Off” at the Roundabout Theater Company. He stepped in to the television in 1995, playing villainous corporate profiteer in sci-fi series “SeaQuest 2032”. Subsequent television job followed. He appeared in 2 episodes of the long-running sitcom “Seinfeld”. He portrayed physician Paul Thomas in family drama “Party of Five”. During this time, he took leap to the big screen, playing a frontier bartender in “Almost Heroes”. The following year, he was cast in an independent movie “Buddy Boy”. He portrayed a corrupt cop in 2000 film, “The Crow: Salvation” & pooped up as an agent of FBI in “Swordfish”. In 2001, he appeared in “Nice Guys Finish” and ‘Taking Back Our Town”. In the years that followed, he appeared in movies, such as “Welcome to the Neighborhood”, “The Third Wheel”, “Control”, “The Chumscrubber”, “Peaceful Warrior” and “The Far Side of Jericho”. Returning to the small screen, he starred on the quirky sitcom “My Name is Earl”. In sitcom “The 4400”, he portrayed an evil alien. In 2007, he appeared in series “Tell Me You Love Me”. Returning to the feature world, he portrayed the character of Bill in “Randy and The Mob”. The following year, he depicted Dr. Nicholas Zavaterro in “Monster Ark”, Tim Russell in “The Russell Girl” and Secret Service Agent in “Get Smart”. Back in the television world, he landed a number of guest roles in the year 2008 in series, such as “NCIS”, “The Cleaner”, “CSI: Miami” and “The New Adventure of Old Christine”. In 2009, he appeared in film “Political Disaster” and series “Scrubs” as guest. That same year, he nabbed a main role as FBI Agent Peter Burke in popular series “White Collar”. His other small screen jobs include “Law & Order: LA”, “Chuck”, “Hot in Cleveland”, “Body of Proof”, “Revenge” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”. In 2014, he appeared in movie “Best Man Wins” as Edward Stiles. He began year 2015 by appearing in food-based TV show “Dinner at Tiffani’s”.
