Bitten by an acting bug at a very tender age, Julie used to perform in front of her family and neighbors along with her sister, during her childhood. She got the taste of on-screen acting for the first time in 1992, when she was cast in series “Loving”. Significant spots in movies and series such as “Municipality”, “Happy Gilmore” and “Boston Legal” helped her to claim the star status.

With captivating green eyes and beautiful smile, Julie Bowen came to world on 3rd of March 1970 as a middle child of John Alexander Luetkemeyer and Suzanne. She began the journey of her life in Baltimore, Maryland but spent her childhood in suburban Ruxton-Riderwood along with her two sisters, Annie Luetkemeyer and Molly Luetkemeyer. She attained her beautiful appearance from her English, German, French, Irish & Scottish heritage. Educated at Calvert School, Garrison Forest School and St. George’s School, she attended Brown University where she majored in Italian Renaissance Studies. She went to Florence, Italy during her junior year where she learned Italian. In New York, Julie Bowen found works in low-budget independent cinemas and commercials. To hone her acting skills, she decided to take acting classes in famed Actors Studio. Shortly, she grabbed her solid acting job in a daytime drama “Loving” which was followed by guest roles in “Lifestories: Families in Crisis”, “Class of ‘96” and “Acapulco H.E.A.T.” after only a week of moving to Los Angeles, Julie landed her first lead role in television film “Runaway Daughters”. She then appeared in series titled “Extreme” and got more exposure as love interest of Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore”. More significant roles followed in “An American Weerewolf in Paris”, “multiplicity” and “The Last Man on Planet Earth”. Her work as a high school teacher named Carol Vessey in television series “ED” was highly praised and in no time, she was everyone’s favorite, including critics. While working in the series, she appeared in other big and small projects, such as “Justice League”, “Amy’s Orgasm”, “Joe Somebody” and “Stella Shorts 1998-2002. After her popular show “ED” came to an end in 2004, the in-demand actress immediately landed a recurring character in series “Jake in Progress”. Her popularity helped her to grab spot in another popular series “Boston Legal” where she portrayed an attorney, Denise Bauer. In 2008, she appeared in “Weeds” and had a guest spot in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”. Back on the big screen, she has worked in movies such as “Sex and Death 101”, “Crazy on the Outside”, “Jumping the Broom”, “Horrible Bosses”, “Conception” and “Knife Fight”. Currently, she is starring as Claire Dunphy in most popular comedy serial “Modern Family”. For her performance in “Modern Family” she has won multiple awards including Screen Actors Guild, Primetime Emmy Awards and Screen Actors Guild among others. Happily married since 2004, Julie has three kids with her husband Scott Phillips. The couple became parent for the first time on 10th of April 2007 when Julie delivered her first child named Oliver McLanahan. On 8th of May 2009, she delivered twin sons named Gustav Phillips and John Phillips. She resides in Beverley Hills, California along with her family.
