Currently a 24-years-old American-born actor, Chris Colfer has been trying to carry both the writing and acting under his wings. The role of Kurt Hummel, he had played in the television sitcom ‘Glee’ has garnered much more credits into his account. With the birth name Christopher Paul Colfer, he was born on 27th May, 1990 in Clovis, California of United States. He was born to be the son of Timothy Colfer and Karyn Colfer. He carries Irish ancestry. During his childhood, lymph node surgery confined him to the hospital bed for 3 months which finally left scar on neck. He cites that situation as one amongst most difficult experiences in his lifetime that developed his interest towards the fictional worlds. He had passion in writing from an early age. He thought of using both acting and writing to entertain people from the young age. With his grandmother’s encouragement, he has written a novel being inspired from a fairy tale in his elementary school years. Failing to battle with the extreme bullying from his school friends, he had studied 7th and 8th grade via homeschooling. Thereafter, he attended Clovis East High School. In high school, he became involved in varieties of program like stage dramas, debate, speech and others.

As a professional actor, the first project he was involved in was a play ‘West Side Story’ at the community theatre. Afterwards, his role was as Kurt von Trapp in musical ‘The Sound of Music’. At 18, he had starred in the role of Russel Fish in short film, ‘Russel Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident’. Chris’s first television role came as Kurt Hummel in Fox series ‘Glee’ in 2009. He played the character of stylish gay countertenor, who was regularly bullied in school for being unpopular Glee club’s member in addition to being gay.  Though he had initially auditioned for Artie Abrams character in series, the role was eventually won by Kevin McHale. However, being impressed by his performance, series producer created a new role for him. ‘Glee’ brought him to the extreme popularity. Since then, he has become a household name in the American entertainment industry which led him to gain guest spots in several popular small-screen projects such as ‘Saturday Night Live’, ‘The Glee Project’, ‘Bitter Party of Five’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’, ‘The Talk’ and others. on big-screen, he is best-recognized for reprising Kurt Hammel’s role in movie ‘Glee: The 3D Concert Movie’ (2011). Chris’s writing passion searched and finally found better platform in 2011 when he signed a contract with Little, Brown and Company for writing 2 novels for children. Following that, his second book series entitled ‘The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns’ was released in 2013. His second book was peaked at 2nd position in The New York Times Best Seller List and also stayed for eleven weeks in Children’s Middle Grade Book’s top 15 lists. Success of the two books followed the release of third book series ‘The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning’ in 2014, July. He has recently signed contract with Little, Brown to write three books including a picture book and two novels. He has planned to release those books in 2015.

Talking about his personal life, he hasn’t been found involved with any women till date. Recently, he has revealed himself being just like the character he played in ‘Glee’ i.e. gay. He had revealed of having romantic affair with an actor, Will Sherrod since January 2013. He had publicized his relationship in an episode of American pop-culture based night talk show ‘Watch What Happens: Live’ in 2014, July. He has been involved in various philanthropic deeds. He is an active advocate of It Gets Better Campaign and also The Trevor Project. He had served as co-chair of Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Party in 2013 & 2014. Animal loving Colfer has adopted a cat named Brian and dog named Cooper. Additionally, he has been a union member of organization named Uprising Of Love, which supports dignity and safety of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Intersex and Transgender.
