Annika Sorenstam Age: Turned professional golfer at age 22, Annika Sorenstam spent almost two decades of her life on the golf course before announced her retirement. And what a tremendously amazing career she had as an athlete being still accredited as one of the finest female golfers in history.
The Swedish-born American professional golfer Sorenstam had prevailed more than 7 dozens international tournaments and 72 LPGA tournaments including 18 minors and 10 majors tournaments.
Annika Sorenstam Net Worth: $40 million dollars: The former Swedish professional golfer Annika Sorenstam is amongst few female athletes who have amazingly succeeded to surmount all the challenges and outshine her adversary in every other tournament.
Her burgeoning career success both on and off the golf course for over 16 years has not only earned Sorenstam a global recognition but also an immense wealth that now counts $40 million.
While she garnered most of her riches through prize money won in both national and international tournaments, plenty of it has also come from brand endorsements and deals.
She, in fact, created her own brand under the name Annika brand after inclining from sports intending to merge the business, golf, and philanthropic works.
Born and brought up in Upplands-Bro near Stockholm, Sweden, Annika is the daughter of Gunilla Sorenstam and Tom Sorenstam.
Her father was an executive of Armonk-centered multinational company called IBM while mom was employed in a bank.
Her younger sibling, Charlotta followed the footsteps of Annika pursuing a career in golf who now mentors at her elder sister sports academy.
The Sorenstam sisters are surprisingly the only siblings to emerge as a champion on the LPGA and win whopping $1 million prize money.
Currently 48-years-old, Annika had developed an interest in sports such as tennis, soccer, and ski since her early days. She was a state-run ranked junior tennis and soccer player and a great skier that even coach of the Sweden national team had recommended the family to relocate to northern Sweden where she can further improve her skills in a ski.
Sorenstam was 12 when she first inclined towards golf and started playing a set with her sister Charlotta before turned to become a professional golfer.
She may have been pretty fortunate in her professional career but Annika definitely isn’t as lucky in marriage as she is in golf although she now has found love with businessman Mike McGee.
The retired professional golfer was formerly married to a guy named David Esch for almost 8 years before they called it quits.
The duo had first met at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona where Sorenstam then LPGA rookie had visited to train for her tournament while he was employed for Ping, an American manufacturer specialized in making golf equipment.
Having got smitten with each other, the couple got engaged at 1995 Evian Masters within a year after sparking romance rumors. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Lake Tahoe which has a breathtaking view amidst close friends and family.
But following irreconcilable differences, the couple filed for divorce after 8 years of marriage in 2005. Four years later, Annika remarried son of retired golfer Jerry McGee and managing director of ANNIKA brand Mike McGee in Orlando’s Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.
The couple is still together living a euphoric life with hardly any buzz of differences and misunderstanding surface on tabloid and news magazine. They currently live in their lavish home in Orlando, Florida along with their two kids, a daughter named Ava Madelyn and a son, William Nicholas McGee.
