Has been holding the Guinness World Record for hosting the most episodes of a game show, he is widely known as a presenter of the syndicated game show “Jeopardy!” since its revival in 1984 by Sony Pictures Television. Alex Trebek has been married twice while he currently lives with his second wife, real estate project manager Jean Currivan-Trebek who is the second wife. He married a New York native Jean in 1990.

Together with Jean, he has two children, son Matthew and a daughter named Emily Trebek. His son co-owns a Mexican restaurant named Oso in the Hamilton Heights while his Loyola Marymount University graduate daughter has followed footprints of her mother.

Prior to Jean, Alex was married to a businesswoman Elaine Callei (now Elaine Trebek Kares) from 1974 to 1981. With his ex-wife, he had no kids despite being married for seven years.

Born on 2 July 1940 in Sudbury, Ontario in Canada, Alex is the son of George Edward Trebek and his wife, Lucille Lagace. His father emigrated from Ukraine with his family and was a chef while his mother was of Franco-Ontarian heritage.

Raised in a bilingual French-English family, he completed his high school from his local after which he joined the University of Ottawa from where he graduated in 1961 with a bachelor degree in philosophy. During his time at the college, he was at the English Debating Society.

As the university student, he was passionate to pursue his career in broadcast news and started to work at CBC before his graduation in 1961. He said, “I went to school in the mornings and worked at nights; I did everything, at one time replacing every announcer in every possible job.”

Finally, he ended presenting national news and covered numerous prominent issues for radio and television affiliated to CBC.

In 1973, Alex relocated to the United States and began to work as a host for a new game program “The Wizard of Odds” on NBC and the rest is history.
