15. Zac Efron: Gap Tooth
Zac Efron was the ultimate heartthrob when he starred in High School Musical as the basketball-playing Troy Bolton. After appearing in the High School Musical trilogy, he appeared in films like Hairspray and 17 Again before moving on to more serious films...and then eventually back to cheesy comedies that required him to take his shirt off a lot.
Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it. As time has gone on, Efron lost his baby face and he spent a lot of time at the gym getting ultra-buff. It's also clear that he had some sort of procedure done to get rid of the gap between his teeth and it's fairly possible that he had a nose job. These changes have been very subtle and they are much less abrasive than his current Ken doll physique which makes him look pretty creepy.
14. Ryan Gosling: Did You Nose-tice?
Ryan Gosling has been an actor for a long time. He first got his start as a child actor on The Mickey Mouse Club along with Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears.
Though he was a cute kid who grew into a cute adult, there was just one thing holding him back from becoming the heartthrob he is today: his nose.
When he appeared in The Notebook, his nose appeared to be a little bigger than it is now. Dr. Yannis Alexandrides said that it was possible that the La La Land actor had a rhinoplasty done in the past, " In Ryan’s case, his nose at the beginning of his career is significantly wider at the bridge and has a prominent hump. Fast forward ten years and both of these features appear altered.” Hey, no one's perfect, not even Ryan Gosling.
13. Robert Pattinson: Symmetrical Vampire
The first time most of us saw Robert Pattinson, he played the charming and ill-fated Hufflepuff, Cedric Diggory, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. When Pattinson became Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, he went from a cutie to a hottie--at least if you were into the whole vampire thing.
Still, onscreen and offscreen, R-Patz looked totally different and it may have had something to do with growing up but we do know that he had a rhinoplasty when he was trying to be a model (a career path that didn't quite work out) the alteration did help him become the perfectly symmetrical, handsome, and mysterious vampire in Twilight. Say what you will about the Twilight movies but you have to admit that R-Patz is a total hottie.
12. Ashton Kutcher: Let's Talk About That Nose
As much as he may deny it, Ashton Kutcher's nose looks a lot smaller today than it did back in his That 70s Show days or even his Punk'd days.
As the rumors about his mysterious nose job got louder and more persistent, Kutcher's team released a statement saying that he did not have any work done on his nose. Why not just admit it already? It's not like it's a bad thing to get a rhinoplasty. Almost everyone in Hollywood has one. What are you so ashamed of, Ashton? Even Dr. Matthew Schulman doesn't believe that and said that his nose looked much "slimmer" and "appeared less crooked." Maybe his nose just magically became smaller overnight because, you know, that happens.
11. George Clooney: Crow's Feet
George Clooney has always been a heartthrob throughout his career but it took time to become the silver fox he is today. Clooney is in his 50s, however, and he has to be doing something in order to look as good as he does.
Just by looking at the photo above, you can tell that he had work done to help with his crow's feet and he's definitely had some botox. However, as an actor or actress in Hollywood, it's perfectly normal to have some subtle procedures done and if you have the money, why not do it? As long as you don't go too far with it. George Clooney is the perfect example of a man using alterations to his benefit but not going overboard. He may have been known as a player for many years, but now that he's settled down, he's the epitome of class.
10. Patrick Dempsey: Natural Nose
Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey hasn't always been McDreamy but after a nose job, he fit perfectly into his role. You can tell just by looking at the old photo above that his nose was a little bit wider than it is now and it was bulbous at the tip.
It's obvious that he had a nose job but it suits him well. However, he hasn't done much in the way of botox and it gives him a sort of rugged appeal. What's great about his nose job is that it's not stiff, small, and unrealistically symmetrical. It's a little crooked and it has character which makes him look like he hasn't gone under the knife at all. A lot of celebrities opt for the small, thin nose, thinking that it will make them look better but it just looks like a mess. Good for you, McDreamy.
9. Jake Gyllenhaal: Just The Tip
Jake Gyllenhaal was first a child actor like Ryan Gosling and also like Gosling, he also went under the knife for a nose job. His rhinoplasty is not super obvious but if you look closely you can see that the tip of his nose has been narrowed and defined, giving his face a more symmetrical look that works much better for a leading man.
When he starred in Donnie Darko, his less-than-perfect nose didn't stand out too much but in order to be a leading man in Hollywood, nothing short of perfect will suffice. Even Miami doctor, Dr. Michael Salzhauer, said that he could tell Gyllenhaal's nose had been altered but he also said that it improved his look and gave him a "more sculpted appearance." That's high praise.
8. Dwayne Johnson: What Needed To Be Done
When Dwayne Johnson went from wrestling to acting, he needed to go under the knife before making the career change. When he first started to appear in movies, his pecs were much too big and he had to get them reduced in size.
This isn't just a speculation--he actually admitted it himself in 2005. He said that the procedure was necessary because of the development of fatty tissues in the chest of male patients called gynecomastia. He said he tried to do different workouts and exercises to get the results he wanted but it didn't work so he went with getting work done instead. It is also suspected that he has had a lip reduction and a facelift. Whatever the procedures are, they definitely worked for him since he's one of Hollywood's biggest and hottest stars.
7. Matthew McConaughey: New Hair Do
Matthew McConaughey has gone from acting in commercials to acting in cheesy romantic comedies, to starring in major films, to winning an Academy Award and, all the while, his looks have been slowly changing.
Around 2009, it became clear that the Dazed and Confusedactor's hairline was receding and you can see in the photo above that he has his hairbrush forward to make it look like he had more hair than he actually did. If you look at his hairline now, you can definitely tell that he had a hair transplant but it looks pretty natural.
According to hair restoration expert, Dr. Alan Bauman, McConaughey's hairline has been looking better and better over the past few years even though he's denied having transplants, "However," Bauman said. "Physicians will agree, nothing grows hair on bald skin except hair transplantation.”
6. Brad Pitt: Can You Hear Me Now?
Brad Pitt has been one of the most attractive and talented men in Hollywood for decades and it's hard to decide which of his films he's hottest in--Fight Club, Legends of the Fall, Meet Joe Black or Ocean's Eleven? Regardless of what your answer is, it's clear that he's had some work done on his face over the past few decades but it's subtle enough to not be too noticeable.
The most noticeable procedure he had done was otoplasty. Otoplasty can be anything from pinning ears back, resizing ears, or correcting deformities. However, it looks like the Mr. and Mrs. Smith star just had them pinned back. Just look at the two photos above and you can see that his ears look different. Still, he looks hot either way. It just goes to show that there are all kinds of procedures you can have done in Hollywood!
5. Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell is in his late 50s and it's pretty obvious that he's at least had a bit of botox done because most 50-somethings don't have such smooth skin on their faces. Just last year, fans urged Cowell to lay off the Botox because his face was starting to look bloated and puffy.
Though the X-Factor judge admitted to getting Botox done only twice a year, it's clear to his fans that it's more than that. Even the former X-Factorjudge Sharon Osbourne said that "His face is so full of Botox and filler- it doesn’t move." You know if Sharon Osbourne says you need to lay off the Botox then it's really time time to stop. In October of 2015, Cowell said that he may have gone overboard with the Botox but once you start, it's hard to stop!
4. Ben Affleck: Wrinkle Free
Ben Affleck seemed to go through a midlife crisis, during which he cheated on his wife with the nanny and got a bunch of Botox to get rid of the wrinkles. Since then, the Gone Girl star's face looks unnaturally smooth and it doesn't seem like he can manage to show a wide range of emotions which doesn't seem to hurt his career because the only expression that appears on his face in any of his films (even before the Botox) is either frowning or brooding.
Even in the book, Gone Girl, the character Nick Dunne admits that he has "a face you want to punch.” A-plus casting! It is also clear that he has undergone cosmetic dentistry as his smile has changed throughout the years. Even if he hasn't had any work done, all of those wrinkles can be covered up in CGI when he plays Batman.
3. Christian Bale: New Teeth
There has long been a stereotype about English people having bad teeth and Christian Bale didn't want to fit the stereotype so he did something about it. He admitted to having his teeth fixed so that they would look more "American" for his role as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.
In 2000, he told The Guardian, "I was warned that if I got caps I could get a lisp, and you might still be able to tell in close-up. So I thought, I like my teeth, but I'm not so attached to them that I'm going to ruin this whole movie because I refuse to get them done." He even said that he had a moulding of his old teeth on his shelf because he liked them so much. Even if his old teeth aren't in his mouth, at least they're still in his heart.
2. Will Smith: Ear Fix And Smooth Skin
Though he hasn't been very open about it, Will Smith has definitely had a handful of procedures done over the past few decades--and a few reversed. You can only tell after comparing photos of the Men in Black actor side by side.
One such procedure was an otoplasty (like Brad Pitt) which pinned his ears back. However, the pinning looked too obvious so the rumor is that he had a procedure to unpin his ears and make them look natural again. It's also odd that his face doesn't have a trace of wrinkles or laugh lines and this probably has something to do with either Botox or fillers. Either way, the procedures are subtle enough that his skin doesn't look unnatural--just strangely smooth. He may not be able to move his face but hey, at least he looks good!
1. Ryan Seacrest: Never Aging
Just by looking at the black and white photo above, anyone can tell that Ryan Seacrest has gotten a nose job at some point as his old nose looks a little wider than it does now. Luckily for Seacrest, his newer nose looks natural enough.
Considering his job is to appear in front of people on a half a dozen different TV shows, it's obvious that he had to have atlas one or two procedures done. You can also tell that he's had Botox and/or fillers to get rid of wrinkles and to make his face look silky smooth. Sorry but no 42-year-old has no sign of crow's feet or wrinkles. Like most of the celebs on this list, Seacrest doesn't look like he's overdone it at all but it's clear that he's had a few procedures done. Anyone who tells you otherwise is crazy.
