Born on September 17, 1974 Wendi Nix is an American sportscaster currently working with ESPN, one of the prestigious sports cable. Native of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, she grew up playing sports. She was a captain of a golf team during her college years. In 1996, she graduated from Wofford College with major in French and Economics. Later, she joined University of Massachusetts to get her Masters degree in sports management. She later on pursued with her aspiration of becoming sports anchor and reporter after completion of her graduation.
Like any other graduates, she had concerns about her career. She needed to start somewhere and she decided to join WPDE-TV, an affiliation of ABC in 1999. Her primary job was to cover NASCAR and high school sports in addition to news. WPDE provided her with the exposure of the practicalities relating television and how stuffs worked. She stayed with the network for around two years and decided to quit. She had then worked with several different channels which added on her experiences and made her more desirable as an employee.
Wendi had an ambition and a vision to where she wanted to be. However, she hadn’t yet come along the opportunity she was looking for. She therefore continued to work with other stations and remained patient. She then joined NESN in 2001 and worked with them only for a year. She then quickly moved to FSN New England. Her work period there also didn’t last long enough. In 2003, WHDH offered her to work them as their weekend sports anchor. She accepted the proposal and worked with all the sincerity. She did exceedingly well by demonstrating her potential as the sports anchor. But then, after three years of her time, she decided to leave the network only to join ESPN, a far better opportunity for any aspiring journalist like her. But, she still remains with WHDH as a guest analyst on their weekend show “Sports Extra”.
