Turkish beauty Tuba Büyüküstün is one of the most sought after actresses of her country. She emanates elegance and poise and with already more than twenty awards to her name, has time and again proved her worth in the Turkish film industry. Born on July 15, 1982, the Turkish actress made a breakthrough appearance in director Cagan Irmak’s Çemberimde Gül Oya in 2004. Her portrayal of the character Zarife won the hearts of her fans all over the country and catapulted her into national fame and stardom. Some of her other more popularly recognized works are Asi, Sinav, 20 Dakika and Kara Para Ask.

Tuba Büyüküstün | Biography

Hailing from the city of Istanbul in Turkey, Tuba Büyüküstün attended Dogus High School. She went on to pursue Costume and Stage Design studies at Istanbul’s Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. It was during her time at college that she began dabbling in the entertainment industry. She started by doing a few commercials to test the waters. After a chance meeting with Turkish film veteran Tomris Giritlio?lu, Büyüküstün decided to begin her career in acting. Within a short amount of time after her debut in the industry she has been able to become an established actress in Turkey. Her celebrity status has allowed her to have a large presence in Turkish celebrity media. She has been married to actor Onur Saylak since 2011. The celebrity couple married in a private ceremony amidst close friends and family in Paris. The ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Turkey in Paris and even the attendees of the wedding were asked not to capture any pictures of the couple as they wanted the occasion to be as private as possible. Their twin daughters were born on January 19, 2012.

Tuba Büyüküstün made her television debut in 2003 by appearing in Aydin Bulut’s Sultan Makami which premiered on Channel D. She appeared in the latter half of the series. Next she grabbed attention with the portrayal of Zarife in Cagan Irmak directed Çemberimde Gül Oya, also on Channel D. She won herself a Best Actress Award at a film festival for her lead role in Gulizar. Aydin Bulut’s Ihlamurlar Altinda is also one of her fine works. She appeared in the series in 2005 and starred alongside Bulent Inal and Sinan Tuzcu. Babam ve Oglum by Cagan Irmak followed next. She starred in the 2006 film Sinav with Jean Claude Van Damme. She shared the screen next with Cetin Tekindor and Murat Yildirim in Cevdet Mercan’s Asi the following year. Her series received warm reviews in the Middle East and elsewhere. The actress has played an appraisable role in the promotion of Turkish television series in international market. Her series Asi received the Best Soap Opera nomination at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. As a film actress, her first major leading role was in Yuregine Sor in 2012 and she was seen in Gonulcelen with Cansel Elcin. She received seven Best Actress awards for Gonulcelen. After a brief hiatus from acting, Büyüküstün  made a comeback with 20 Dakika on Star TV opposite Ilker Aksum. Her performance in the series was recognized internationally and she went on to become the first Turkish actress to be nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Actress which she won. She is presently starring in Kara Para Ask opposite actor Engin Akyurek on Channel ATV. She portrays Elif Denizer, an accessories designer whose life takes an unexpected turn after she travels to Istanbul from Rome for her birthday. In 2015, she was honored with the Most Successful Actress award by Istanbul Technical University.

In 2014, UNICEF Turkey appointed Büyüküstün to be their goodwill ambassador. Büyüküstün  has appeared in commercials for Pantene, Lamees and Mohannad, Molfix among others.

Now 32, Tuba Büyüküstün has successfully completed more than a decade in the Turkish film and television industry. She is arguably one of the best actresses in the country of her time. The talented actress has also been getting moderate international recognition for her poised performances.
