A recurring role in The Young and the Restless is bound to attract attention. Also with another recurring role in How I Met Your Mother, this actress has been nabbing important roles in mainstream television series and has appeared in more than a few big screen films. Although she appeared in a hardly speaking role in How I Met Your Mother, Lyndsy Fonseca certainly grabbed some attention with the show. The American actress shot to fame with her recurring role of Colleen Carlton of the CBS series The Young and the Restless in the early 2000s. Born on January 7, 1987, Lyndsy is best known for her starring role in The CW series Nikita as Alexandra Udinov.

Lyndsy Fonseca | Biography

As several actors do, Lyndsy started acting early in her career. She was already filming for pilots by the time she was thirteen and she was fourteen when she got the part of Colleen Carlton in The Young and the Restless. The Oakland, California native took her dreams to Los Angeles where she started taking on major roles. After she was cast in The Young and the Restless, her family moved to Los Angeles. She attended the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. She has also been a dancer for several years, taking part in talent competitions. Lyndsy was married for ten years to author Matthew Smiley. They married in 2009 and separated in mid-2012. They divorced a year later in 2013.

Lyndsy’s three year role in the soap opera The Young and the Restless was her debut television role. She appeared on the show until 2005. While on the series, she appeared in four episodes of Boston Public and guest starred in Malcolm in the Middle, NYPD Blue and Switched!. In 2005, she appeared in three made for television films, I Do They Don’t, Ordinary Miracles which was a Hallmark film and Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life. That year she was also cast in How I Met Your Mother as Penny Mosby, daughter of the central character Ted Mosby and has appeared in 65 episodes of the series. She also worked on an unaired series on CBS in 2006 called Waterfront. Her fans also recognize her as Donna from Big Love. In 2007, she appeared as Dylan Mayfair in the drama series Desperate Housewives, Katherine Mayfair’s daughter who moves to Wisteria Lane. She shared an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series nomination with her co-stars on the series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2008. On the big screen, she starred in Intellectual Property, Remember the Daze and in 2010 was seen in Kick Ass, Hot Tub Time Machine and The Ward. Her another best known role in television came in 2010 with a starring role in the popular CW series, Nikita. She portrayed the role of Alexandra Udinov for three years on the show. She appeared as the main cast for 73 episodes and was also nominated for a Choice TV Actress: Action at the Teen Choice Awards. Nikita also starred Maggie Q, Shane West, Xander Berkeley, Tiffany Hines, Aaron Stanford, and Noah Bean among others. She reprised her role in Kick Ass 2 in 2013 and will be starring in Moments of Clarity and The Escort, to be released in 2015. As for television, the actress is set to appear as Angie Martinelli in the upcoming ABC action series, Marvel’s Agent Carter which will star Hayley Atwell, James D’Arcy, Enver Gjokaj, Chad Michael Murray and Shea Whigham.

The talented actress has also made cameo appearances in Phil of the Future, Close to Home, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, House and Heroes. With a few exciting upcoming roles in 2015, Lyndsy Fonseca will be maintaining an amicable presence in American film as well as television industry.
