During her college days, she served for daily newspaper Chicago Tribune. Later, she came up with an idea of Jewelry Box and founded her own company. At the beginning, she faced financial crisis. So, she borrowed money to expand her business. She created a sample product which was all picked by J.C Penny. Within 18 months, she became a millionaire through her earrings business.

She joined American reality television show Shark Tank in 2012. Due to her boldness, she was named the Warm-Blooded shark. In 2014, she invested in sponge company Scrub Daddy. In a single day, she traded more than 2 million sponges on shopping channel Quality Value Convenience (QVC).

Her other investments until 2016 include Readerest, Drop Stop, Squatty Potty, Fiber Fix, Simply Fit Board Paint Brush Cover and Screened. Moreover, in 2014 She published her book titled Invent it, Sell it, Bank it!-Make Your Million Dollar Idea into Reality.
