Acknowledged by the stage name Labrinth, he is a renowned personality of English music industry. Successful as a singer / songwriter, Labrinth is popular all round the UK and many other countries for the works he has done as an instrumentalist and record producer. Young and talented Labrinth has collaborated with several established singers and has earned huge success ad fame.
Best known by the stage name Labrinth, the English singer was born as Timothy Lee McKenzie on 4th January, 1989. He was born in London Borough of Hackney into a family with musical background and was raised with 8 siblings. While talking about his love life, there is not any information revealed about it. He is not reported to have dated anyone in the past or at present. The 26 years old singer seems to be working hard on making his career because of which he has kept all the distractions, including love, miles away from him. He might date someone in the future but we will have to wait to see who it would be.
Labrinth’s career has been majorly influenced by the musical background of his family. He along with his 8 siblings grew up entirely listening to American gospel music and caught the bug of music. Eventually, the nine siblings formed a band and named it Mac 9. Growing up, he started attending the Stoke Newington School during which he started pursuing his career in music. He was assisted a lot a by one of his singer / music producer brother known by the name A-Star or Mac 1 in launching his career. He entered the industry as a professional music producer and debuted by producing a track for the song Dead End by for the British singer Master Shortie. The success of the track motivated him to settle his career in the same field and led him to get signed by the EMI Music Publishing. From 2010-11, Labrinth and his sister ShezAr trained the Urban Development Vocal Collective for which he also composed multiple tracks. In 2010, he produced, co-wrote and appeared in the song Pass Out, the debut single by the artist Tinie Tempah. The song peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart having sold over 600 thousand copies and received a BRIT Award for Best British Single and an Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song. The continuous success that Labrinth earned caught attention of Simon Cowell, an English television talent judge, music talent scout and music and television producer. He was approached by Simon in June 2010 and got signed to his label Syco. He was the first to get signed for the label after 6 years who did not rise from any of Simon’s reality show. In September 2010, Labrinth released his debut single entitled as Let the Sun Shine through the label Syco which debuted at #3 in the UK’s chart. In October 2011, he released his second single entitled as Earthquake which included Tinie Tempah as a featuring artist. The track garnered huge success, reaching #2 in UK and entering top 15 in countries like Ireland and New Zealand. Of all the singles that Labrinth has released till date, Beneath Your Beautiful is the most successful one which has been certified multi-platinum and has topped the charts of UK, Scotland and Ireland. In April 2012, his debut studio album Electronic Earth was released which peaked at #2 in UK, #19 in Ireland and #30 in Australia. He has announced that his second studio album Take Me to the Truth will be released in October 2015. He has been assisted by British singer Ed Sheeran in writing the album. Besides producing and recording successful tracks, what has earned Labrinth success is his vanity label Odd Child Recordings which was founded in 2011. The label is owned by the record label Syco. Chris Loco, Etta Bond, Raf Riley, etc are few artists signed by the label.
