One of the India’s most talented directors, Karan Johar assisted Aditya Chopra before debuting as a director of blockbuster movie “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. Bollywood has been his playground since his childhood. He was born as a son of Hiroo Johar and Yash Johar on 25th of May 1972 in Mumbai. His father was as well celebrated film producer. He inherited Dharma Production from his father. He attended Greelawns High School and then H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. He earned his master’s degree in French. In 1998, Karan directed the runaway success romance “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”. The movie nabbed the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The movie as well grabbed most of the chief awards at the Filmfare Awards, including Best Director and Best Film. He next tried his hands on family drama, “Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gham”. Despite the fact that his third movie “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” deals with the issue of marital infidelity, which is regarded as controversial subject, managed to grabbed fare share of appreciation from its audiences. Though the move was not commercially successful, it managed to earn positive reviews from the critics. His next venture “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” is due to release in 2016. It starred Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.

In addition to his directorial role, Karan has produced a number of movies, including Kal Ho Naa Ho, I Hate Luv Story, Dostana, Agneepath and Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani. In “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, he appears in a small role. He has guested in movies, such as “Om Shanti Om”, “Fashion” and “Luck By Chance”. He is set to be seen in more major role in upcoming “Bombay Velvet” alongside Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor. He as well has made his presence felt on the small screen.
