Jennie Garth | Biography

American actress Jennie Garth has claimed the hearts of many from her most popular role on television in the long running drama series Beverly Hills, 90210. Born on April 3, 1972, Jennie portrayed one of the lead characters, Kelly Taylor, for the period of almost ten years on the coming-of-age teen drama series. Like many of the stars on the series, she is best known for her long term commitment to the series. In addition to this, she was also seen as Valerie Tyler of the situation comedy What I Like About You. While on Beverly Hills, 90120, she also starred in several made-for-television movies.

Jennie is originally from Urbana, Illinois and was raised for brief periods in Arcola, Tuscola and Glendale. She is the only child to her parents but has six half siblings with whom she grew up in a horse ranch. Since her childhood, the interest for the performance had been sparked. She took lessons in dance and modeling and participated in talent show. While still a junior at Apollo High School, she dropped out to move to Los Angeles where she would eventually begin her professional career. She later obtained a high school diploma. She is presently in a relationship with actor David Abrams. They began dating in later 2014. Previously Jennie was married to actor Peter Facinelli whom she met on the sets of An Unfinished Affair. They tied the knot after five years of dating in 2001. Their first daughter was born in 1997 followed by their second child, also a daughter, in 2002. Their third daughter was born in 2006. After eleven years of marriage, they divorced in 2012. Prior to Facinelli, she was married to Daniel Clark for two years since 1994. She has also been in a relationship with businessman Michael Shimbo.

In her early career, Jennie debuted on television with a role in the NBC drama Brand New Life in 1989. She also appeared in the sitcom Growing Pains. In a short time, Jennie began portraying Kelly Taylor in Beverly Hills, 90210. While a part of the series, she was one of the most instrumental characters of the plot and also inspired the consequent spin off series 90210 and Melrose Place. She received two Young Artist Award nominations in 1991 and 1992 for the role, winning the latter one for Best Young Actress Co-starring in a Television Series. Her success from the series led her to star in television films like Danielle Steel’s Star in 1993, Without Consent in 1994 and Falling for You in 1995. She also appeared in supporting roles in movies like Telling You, Power 98 and My Brother’s War. Her second most popular role came in 2002 with What I Like About You in which she played Valerie Tyler. In 2005, she voiced a character on Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. She starred in Girl, Positive in 2007 alongside actress Andrea Bowen and received a Prism Award. That year, she participated in the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars with choreographer Derek Hough. She reprised her role of Kelly Taylor for the 2008 spinoff, 90210, which premiered on the CW. In 2009, she appeared in the web series The Boardroom and later an episode of Sesame Street. In 2011, she appeared in the movies Accidentally in Love and A Christmas Wedding Tall and a year later she appeared in Village People. In February 2014, she starred in her own reality series on HGTV, The Jennie Garth Project. She also starred with Tori Spelling in the short lived sitcom Mystery Girls in 2014.

Jennifer Eve Garth, who recently celebrated her 43rd birthday, is presently dividing her time between future projects and raising her three children with her ex husband.
