Jami Gertz was born on October 28, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, the United States to Jewish parents. Her father is Walter Gertz, a former builder and contractor and mother is Sharyn. She has two siblings named Michael and Scott.

She completed her high school from Maine East High School and later joined NYU for studying drama after meeting Norman Lear during a nationwide talent search. Before that, she aimed to be a figure skater.

Gertz married Antony Ressler, a businessman as well as co-founder of Apollo Management, in 1987. The couple has three sons named Oliver, Theo and Nicholas Simon. She is living along with her family in the elite Beverly Park society and often visits their vacation house in Malibu, California.

Jami Gertz started her acting career as a child actress in an episode of Diff’rent Strokes with Andrew Dice Clay. She also got a recurring role as Blair’s pal and schoolmate Boots St. Clair on The Facts of Life.

Her first movie was Endless Love in 1981 and later co-starred in television series Square Pegs since 1982-83. She got fair popularity from the movie Less Than Zero along with Robert Downey, Jr. and Andrew McCarthy in 1987 and in the same year, she starred in horror comedy movie The Lost Boys.

Apart from that, she has also starred in blockbuster movie Twister in the main supporting role after returning from Paris where she worked as scent designer. She has done several movies including Solarbabies, Crossroads, Listen to Me, Jersey Girl, Silence like Glass, Renegades, Sibling Rivalry, Seven Girlfriends, and Keeping up with the Steins and Dealin’ with Idiots.
