Jackie Guerrido | Biography

Television personality turned designer, Jackie Guerrido is a gorgeous Puerto Rican celebrity based in America. Jackie, who began her professional career as a presenter in radio and television, has been recently making her name known as a clothing line designer. Born on September 24, 1972, the Puerto Rican celebrity moved to America when she was a teenager and since then has been making living in the broadcast and journalism industry. She has worked with several American broadcast stations like WSKO FM, WRMA, WRTO, WSCV and WLTV to name a few. She is especially popular among the Spanish language speaking communities in America.

Jackie may be a national star now but things were not always looking up for the celebrity. Born in Puerto Rico, she and her sister were raised in San Juan by their parents who were not on good terms with each other. Reportedly, her father inflicted abuse on her mother even to the point that led the girls and their mother to seek asylum at the local shelter for victims of domestic violence called Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos. They eventually escaped the abuse when the family moved to the Bronx in New York City after Jackie’s high school graduation. In America, she attended the University of Miami and also the University of Florida to study meteorology and journalism. She currently busies herself raising her two children, a son and a daughter. She was previously married to reggaeton musician Don Omar for three years. They were engaged in 2007 and married on April 19, 2008. They divorced in 2011. Jackie has also been rumored to have dated television personality Jorge Ramos.

Jackie initially showed interest in acting and also auditioned for the lead role in Selena which was eventually played by Jennifer Lopez. After the letdown, Jackie entered the broadcast industry as a presenter for El Vacilon de la Manana on the radio station WSKQ. She soon relocated to Miami where she started working for WRMA. After a year, she began hosting for the HBC Radio Company in Miami where she dealt with traffic news. Her experiences on these shows led her to being hired as a show runner for a music show on WRTO-FM and later a reporter of traffic news on Telemundo’s WSCV. She got her breakthrough opportunity on television with Univision, one of America’s largest Spanish language television network. She was offered to fill up a position of a meteorologist on its morning show Al Amanacer on Channel 23. She decided to take meteorology classes at the University of Miami. She eventually landed a position of the weather girl on Despierta America, a Spanish language show on Univision. The show is regarded as one of the most watched shows on television by the people of Hispanic heritage in America. She presented for Despierta America for many years and presently she is a weather reporter on Primer Impacto, also on Univision, where she has partnered up with news presenter Barbara Bermudo. This television personality has also been honored as the Goodwill Ambassador by the Puerto Rican Day Parade organized in New York City. Jackie is also famous in television for her appearance in the Spanish adaptation of the celebrity dance contest, Dancing with the Stars, Mira Quien Baila!. The competition show was premiered on Univision on which Jackie became the runner up to the winner actor Vadhir Derbez. As the runner up of the competition, Jackie received a hefty sum of $10,000 that she selflessly donated. She donated her prize money to Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos, the organization which provided her family relief from domestic violence all those years before.

Jackie has also launched her own clothing line called Jackie Guerrido Jeans. She has also contributed to causes like Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau, Fundacion Alas a la Mujer, PADRES Contra El Cancer and Salvation Army.

Jackie Guerrido is the pride of Univision’s Despierta America and Primer Impacto. She has been working on Spanish language networks for a long time now and is one of the easily recognized celebrities in American broadcast television.
