Haviland Morris | Biography
American actress Haviland Morris has kept away from any film or television roles in the past two years. The reason she has been keeping away from her acting career is because she’s too busy being successful as a real estate agent. As an actress too she has been widely successful appearing in movies like Sixteen Candles, Home Alone 3, and Cherry Crush and numerous television series such as Family Ties, American Playhouse, Law & Order, Cosby, One Tree Hill, As the World Turns and The Good Wife. Born on September 14, 1959, the actress turned real estate agent, Haviland is best recognized for her role as a teenager in the coming of age movie Sixteen Candles.
The actress is content with her time away from acting because of the amazing life she has created for herself outside of performing. She has been married to her husband for several years now and is a mother to her two children, daughter named Faith and a son Henry born nine years after her daughter. Born in New Jersey, Haviland left the United States with her family to settle down in Hong Kong. She was raised in cities of Hong Kong as well as Singapore. After moving back to America, she attended the theatre program at the Northwestern University and later the Purchase College, State University of New York.
You simply cannot mention Haviland and not talk about her movie Sixteen Candles. The teen romantic comedy was released in 1984 and starred Molly Ringwald and the handsome Michael Schoeffling as the leads. Haviland played the role of Caroline Mulford and was one of the main cast of the John Hughes directed romance flick. The movie earned a hefty $23.7 million and is regarded one of the best teen movies of the 80s. Before Sixteen Candles, Haviland had appeared in her debut movie Reckless, also a teen romance movie. She starred in the television films Royal Match and George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation before appearing in the Madonaa starring romantic comedy Who’s That Girl in 1987. She guest starred in television series like Family Ties, Tales From the Darkside and appeared in three episodes of American Playhouse. Her early 1990s movies were Love or Money, A Shock to the System and the critically acclaimed Gremlins 2: The New Batch. She returned to film with The Fifth Element and Home Alone 3 in 1997 and frequently guest starred in television in series like Law & Order, Diagnosis: Murder, New York News, Dead Man’s Walk, Aliens in the Family, Cosby, Sex & the City, Homicide: Life of the Street and Madigan Men among others. She portrayed the character of Claire Baxter in One Life to Live. More movies followed in the 2000s and she was seen in Rick, The Baxter, Joshua and the thriller Cherry Crush which starred Jonathan Tucker opposite actress Nikki Reed. Since her three movies released in 2012, Jack & Diane, Nous York and Nor’easter, the actress has not returned to the big screen. She has also guest starred in One Tree Hill, Army Wives, As the World Turns and The Good Wife.
Haviland Morris has found a perfect sense of balance between her career in acting and real estate. A mother of two, her down time from acting has allowed her to have a normal happy life with her children and husband and she really doesn’t mind straying away from acting once a while because she’s just as good, if not better, as a thriving businesswoman in real estate. The actress is presently a celebrated real estate agent with the real estate company, Halstead Property.
