Lara Spencer | Biography
Lara Spencer is a television entertainment anchor, who was born on 19 June, 1969. She is currently associated with ABC News. Her birth name is Lara Christine Von Seelen. She was raised at Garden City, Long Island. She completed her high school education from Garden City High School. She loved diving tower and spring boarding so after receiving athletic scholarship she went to Pennsylvania State University. She also used to compete on national level driver competition. In 1991, during her senior year she was titled as the All American Athlete.
She first started her career in broadcasting through NBC. She was also at WDEF-TV at Chattanooga and there she alone had to shoot her own report and edit it. In 1995 she joined WAB-TV at New York City and served as an anchor and a reporter for Eyewitness News for which she covered national and international breaking news such as the TWA Flight 800 crash and Princess Diana death.
During 1999 she was hired by ABC’s Good Morning America when she was still working for channel 7, she joined ABC the same year. In the beginning she served as the national reporter for the show after 2004 she was assigned as the anchor for the show. She also produced and hosted The Insider which was an entertainment news show where she interviewed several celebrity from the film industry like Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Julia Roberts and . She also travelled with the cast of Mamma Mia and James Bond: Quantum of Solace to interview the cast on the sets. She was the co-host of Superbowl’s Greatest Commercial’s along Jim Nantz. Her story 50 State in 50 Weeks: IN Search of America was nominated for Emmy award. She hosted the two seasons of Antique Roadshow. She also created and produced a game show for NBC during 2011 which was titled, It’s Worth What?
She is fond of collecting Antique pieces and likes to do interior designing. She is the author of I Brake for Yard Sales which was published on 2012 and it also features photos of comedy actress Kathy Griffin’s house which Spencer decorated, who also happens to be Spencer’s friend. Lara Spencer is married to David Haffenreffer, who previously used to work as a journalist for CNN and their wedding took place on 1st September, 2000 in St. Andrew's Dune Church. Their relationship is still going strong so there is no chance of divorce in their marriage. She and her husband are proud parents of two children one girl Kate and a son Duff.
